Background Concept Artist

Pixelberry Studios is seeking an efficient and productive 2D environment artist to support our hit mobile game, Choices: Stories You Play. This is a project-based contract position. The artist will work closely with art leads to continuously provide background sketches for the unceasing background assets we produce for every new book.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Choices’ interactive novels include a variety of genres such as romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror/mystery in styles from illustrated realism, to cartoon, to anime, and etc. You will be provided with one spec sheet per background and will generate quick, adequate, and creative concepts for the team.

Product Designer (Mid/Senior, On-Site)

As a Product Designer, you’ll work closely with a team of talented individuals across several disciplines within our organization to expand and develop new features for Choices: Stories You Play.

Your primary responsibilities will involve owning specific features within the Choices storefront and to design tools to support our liveops pipeline. This can range from the design of player rewards, social messaging systems, book recommendation system, to internal tools that support content generation. You will be involved in many aspects of production, from ideation of features to finalizing in-game implementation of those ideas.

Engineering Manager (On-Site)

We are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to lead development at Pixelberry for our hit mobile game “Choices: Stories You Play.” You'll work with the best interactive fiction game team in the industry, with the many on the team working together for over 10 years.

You would be responsible for the development team delivering performant, well built, stable features to players across the world. You would lead projects by architecting features, managing their development and testing, and getting them shipped. Projects will span the whole stack - from front end client work in C++ to back end services built in Java on AWS. Pixelberry Studios is a rapidly growing developer of story-driven mobile games. Pixelberry Studios is looking for talented, experienced senior writers to lead content for our hit mobile game “Choices: Stories You Play.” You'll work with the best interactive fiction writing team in the industry, craft characters, plots, and series concepts, and see your writing come to life in the game. Junior game writer (on-site)

We are offering an entry-level “Junior Game Writer” position for our latest game, Choices: Stories You Play, at our Mountain View office. This is an on-site position with benefits that requires at least 40 hours per week. Pay rate is competitive, depending on experience, with the option of paid overtime (overtime is 1.5 x the hourly rate per hour).

    Job Description and Responsibilities

    You will be working with a team of writers to deliver weekly, quality content to our story-based apps. This position involves creative writing, extensive editorial work, game testing, and some social media networking as well as other more technical or artistic tasks. Given our small-studio format, you might find yourself wearing a variety of hats; candidates should be open and eager to work in several roles and learn new skills.

    Requirements

    Our ideal candidate writes stories with interesting characters and compelling narratives, is able to follow the established style and tone of our games, and can write from a variety of perspectives. Additionally, candidates should be able to receive frequent feedback, adapt writing to meet requirements, and consistently meet tight deadlines. Excellent copywriting and editing skills are a must. 

    Plusses

    1. Major in English, specifically creative writing.
    2. Technical proficiency (some computer science coursework).
    3. Knowledge about and passion for the gaming industry, specifically the mobile gaming space.
    4. Familiarity making posts on Facebook, Twitter, and tumblr.

    You would be working with a team of producers and writers to deliver weekly, quality content to our story-based apps. This position involves extensive editorial work, translation of existing stories, game testing, creative writing, and some social media networking as well as other more technical or artistic tasks. Fluency in Simplified Chinese and understanding of Chinese societal norms, culture, and entertainment is a must.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Our ideal candidate writes stories with interesting characters and compelling narratives, is able to follow the established style and tone of our games through translation into Simplified Chinese, and can write from a variety of perspectives. Additionally, candidates should be able to receive frequent feedback, adapt writing to meet requirements, and consistently meet tight deadlines. Excellent copywriting and editing skills are a must. Candidates must regularly consume and be up-to-date with Asian entertainment, including movies, dramas, music, games, and literature.
