Untameable

Howdy, y'all! We're headed to the countryside in our next Choices adventure, Untameable! Buckle up for an inside scoop with the team behind the book...

So, first things first. Where will players find themselves in our latest cowboy story?

Jilly: We're headed to the plains of Oklahoma in Untameable. When you move back to your hometown of Thunder Valley to help your brother run your family’s horse ranch, the spark you’ve always felt with his rodeo rider best friend Kit ignites into a full-on blaze. Will giving into your need for one another tear your family, and the ranch apart?

Ooo, we'll be sharing more Untameable sneak peeks soon, but until then, can you tell us a bit about the characters you're most excited for players to meet?

Jilly: Personally I'm excited for everyone to meet Mandy Martinez, your best friend from college. She always says what's on her mind even (maybe especially) when it's a little embarrassing, but she's got your back like no one else.

Coral: Since this is a single love interest book, the star of the show is Kit Jackson, rodeo prodigy and certified lone wolf. But I’m also pretty excited for players to meet Kit's debonair rodeo rival, Tate Fontayne! Someone’s gotta spark that competitive fire for Kit.

We can't wait to get to know everyone! We've seen previews of the incredible art for this book. Can you share a bit about it?

Coral: One of the best things about working with the art team on this book was brainstorming our outfits! Rodeos are surprisingly glitzy events, bedazzled with rhinestones, and topped with wide-brimmed cowboy hats. Getting to balance the functional fashion of being a ranch hand with the glamor of the biggest stage in the South was a blast.

Georgio: There’s also some downright adorable animals in this book, very excited for players to meet their new furry friends!

Glamorous rodeo outfits AND fuzzy friends? Amazing! Were there any funny or memorable moments y'all had together when creating Untameable?

Georgio: There was an un-stable amount of cowboys puns during meetings!

Jilly: We had a blast coming up with all the country-specific events and settings, and also finding ways to keep this forbidden romance under wraps. And thanks to Coral, we were able to add some real authenticity to the rodeo scenes!

Coral: Brainstorming a story about the sprawling South was like dipping back into my childhood. I regaled the team with tales of working my grandmother’s ranch—wrangling stray newborn calves in wild thunderstorms, getting bucked off a horse who smelled a mountain lion, and so on. I think players will be pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns we throw at them, and that they might find their heartstrings pulled in a way they didn’t expect.

Sounds like one heck of a journey! On another note: Whether it be movies or music, what are some of your favorite country media?

Jilly: I'm a huge fan of old country music -- Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline. Growing up, my dad listened to all of it, and I developed a serious love for the entire genre.

Coral: One of my favorite movies growing up was Flicka, which I saw in the theater with my grandmother (the one with the ranch) as a kid. The authenticity of that story floored me, and made me realize how important family dynamics can be when shaping a story.

Georgio: I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, and throughout the development of Untameable’s music, I found and really loved the music of Kris Kristofferson and Dolly Parton.

Oh, those are some great favorites! Last but not least, any final words for players?

Coral: Enjoy the ride! We can’t wait for you to find out if Kit Jackson is truly Untameable...

Thank you all for taking time to chat with us. And as always, thank you to our readers for taking time to read our blog! Be sure to give Untameable a try when it releases on February 25th! Till next time...
