The Princess Swap

Ever wonder what it'd be like to see the world through another person's eyes? Our Choices Library is growing with our newest VIP book, The Princess Swap! We got the team together to give us a preview of the royal life and the world beyond its palace walls:

We’re dusting off our tiaras and textbooks for another royal adventure! Can you tell us a little bit about The Princess Swap?

Olivia: The Princess Swap is about an exchange student who learns that she looks just like the kingdom's princess, who has always wanted to experience life outside the palace! As one of you is drawn into the fun and sisterhood of sorority life, the other meets a charming stranger at the palace who might change all of your plans...

Jeffrey: Have you ever been in an awkward situation and wished you could swap places with someone to get out of it? This book is the opposite of that.

Oh my, that'll be interesting... On another note, what royals and students are you excited for players to meet?

Olivia: We've managed to mix a bunch of my favorite romance dynamics into one roguishly charming character you'll meet early on. Our artists did an incredible job with all of their looks, so be prepared to be swept off your feet!

Jeffrey: The dialogue between a particular noble and the main character is always fun to write.

Janey: Both Clarke and Devin have my heart! Clarke is so smooth and playful and Devin is so kindhearted and warm. I'm glad that I can play as two people so that I can romance both!

Amanda: I'm excited for the Devins. I like how their personality matches Rose's in that they both find inspiration in the real world.

We couldn't help but peek at the new art and features, are there any you'd highlight to players?

Olivia: It wouldn't be a swap story without two perspectives, and our artists, producers, and animators went above and beyond to make their different stories shine.

Kelly: Because our twins share the same face, we wanted to make sure that there were visual elements that would set each one apart from the other. Their floral-based names provided the inspiration to create a floral wreath behind each character’s portrait to help the players transition from one character to the other.

Amanda: This book offers some new and refreshing animations that we haven't really seen from other Choices books; we're also excited to show how we incorporate similarities and yet differences between the two main characters.

They certainly look lovely! What were some of your favorite moments while creating this book?

Olivia: All of the swap shenanigans are gold to me, especially if our two main characters ever happen to end up in the same place at the same time ;) Not that we'd do that to them, of course…

Jeffrey: Everyone in the Delta sorority is a gem and has never done anything wrong ever.

Kelly: I really enjoyed creating lush palace interiors that felt connected and cohesive for this new kingdom! And, of course, creating the floral elements for our twins — floral designs are my everything.

Janey: The best moment is the first time playing the first chapter with all of the final art implemented. It's so exciting seeing it all fit together!

Amanda: Researching and creating some of our outfits was really fun, especially creating outfits for the 2 main characters that have very different styles. I think this is a great way to increase interest from different audiences: players who want to live the royalty fantasy, and players who want to experience the perfect college life.

Okay, but if you could swap places with any person in real life, who would it be and why

Olivia: I actually tried to swap places with my (fraternal) twin sister growing up - needless to say, it never worked out, even if it's been a fun inspiration for this book. But if I could be anyone in the world these days, it would probably be one of my cats! It'd be nice to take a lot more naps without a care in the world.

Jeffrey: Stephen Colbert because he's one of my comedy icons and a great mix of funny and wholesome. And for one night, I'd like to revive his old character and talk about the greatest threat facing America: Bears.

Kelly: My sister and I have often been mistaken for twins, but this is not the case. We do often wonder if we could truly pull off the swap, though! As for swapping, I’d happily swap with my pet Jack Russell terrier as he is treated like a king and wants for nothing.

Amanda: I would switch places with one of my favorite illustrators, Victo Ngai. The skill that she has as an illustrator is innovative and inspiring with such high attention to detail!

Janey: I mean, if I met my doppleganger while studying abroad and they happened to be a princess, I'd swap with them! Wouldn't you?!

Well yes, we would! Any final words for players?

Olivia: We've put a lot of fun, surprises, and heart into this book, and we can't wait to share it with all of you!

Jeffrey: Thank you for the love and support! We can only make these stories because of you.

Amanda: Have fun! We're excited to see what you all think about this book! It was somewhat nostalgic for the team to work in royalty romance again, so we hope you enjoy it as well.

Janey: I hope you can keep up the swap!

Oh, it’s on! We’re super excited to dive into these worlds. As always, thanks for taking time to check out today's blog - we hope you're ready for The Princess Swap releasing this week on March 25th! See you all next month for The Cursed Heart blog.
